It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a vibrant, smart, and incredibly funny woman, Arla Henderson, who departed from this world on December 26, 2023. Born on August 7, 1951, in Fort Knox, Kentucky, her journey through life was a whirlwind of excitement, tenacity, and a deep love of learning and exploring new things.
A registered nurse by profession, Arla Henderson was not just a beacon of compassion and expertise; she was a vibrant and radiant presence that touched countless lives. Fluent in Spanish, her commitment to caring for others was an inspiration to her colleagues and a soothing balm to her Spanish speaking patients. Arla was not only a devoted caregiver in the hospital but also at home, where she poured her heart into caring for her grandson Peyton, as his home health nurse. Nurturing him with love and compassion that only she could deliver.
A lifelong learner who continuously sought to expand her horizons, at the age of 58, she earned her second bachelor's degree, in Psychology, a testament to her unwavering dedication to knowledge and personal growth. This achievement opened new doors for her, leading to becoming a licensed hypnotherapist, a Reiki healer, and a certified holistic nurse. Her holistic approach to healthcare reflected her dedication to the well-being of the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, keeping her patients feeling truly alive.
But Arla was not just alive; she was a wild firecracker of humor and wit. Her laughter was infectious, and her funny anecdotes could light up a room with joy. Her practical jokes and quick comebacks were legendary, bringing laughter and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Arla's creativity and zest for life didn't stop at nursing; she had a remarkable and heartwarming musical talent. Operating a singing telegram business, she fearlessly ventured into people's lives, sharing in their celebrations and adding her own magical touch. With quick wit and soulful songwriting, she crafted and sang unique telegrams, delivering messages of love, laughter, and heartfelt connection. Her songs were more than melodies; they were powerful memories cherished forever.
Arla leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come. She wasn't just smart and funny; she was a force of nature, a dynamic soul, and a source of inspiration and joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
