Cheri Lee Younkerman December 12,1949-February 7, 2025
At 1:53 am, February 7, 2025 our amazing mother took her last breath and went to be with our Heavenly Father for eternity. After battling CHF for years and going through cancer, Cheri Lee Younkerman, beloved mother to four children, at 75 years old, of Monte Vista, Colorado, passed away with family and friends surrounding her, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Up until the end, Cheri maintained her kind, caring, selflessness, and love of family and friends. She truly was a mother to all.
Cheri is survived by many close family members, son Kelly Scherf, son Don (Barbara) Meredith, son Joey (Michelle) Younkerman and daughter in laws Billie Lynn Vigil and Kathy Meredith. Her pride and joy were many grandchildren and great-children. Grandchildren - Katie Scherf, Kye Scherf, Kelly Meredith, David Meredith, Jenny Lucero, Brian (Lindsay) Meredith, Joey (Lauren) Younkerman III, Hunter (Tana) Younkerman, and Montana Younkerman. Great-grandchildren - Hudson Meredith, Jaxson Meredith, with number three Meredith on the way, Harmony Naranjo and Darius Gallegos. Her younger brother Sam (Christie) Scherf. Nephews - Steve (Marci) Meredith, Rex Meredith, Daniel Scherf and Benjamin Scherf. There are many extended family who were very close as well.
She was born in Denver, Colorado to Albert and Ruby Scherf. She was raised with two brothers and two sisters. Cheri worked hard and accomplished her GED, then attended Red Rocks community college. There was never a day that she didn't work hard. At times she worked multiple jobs to take care of her family. She raised her boys on her own and was very proud of them. Her biggest accomplishment was her family that kept growing. She had so many friends, she would give the shirt of her back literally. She spoke of all the wonderful friends she made over the years and wonderful people she worked with.
She was preceded in death by her son Mike Meredith, parents Al and Ruby, and two of her brothers Scott and Larry, and three sisters, Kathy, Chris and Judy.
We were beyond blessed to have her in our lives and would love to honor her wishes for a Celebration of Life. So everyone is welcome to come and help us celebrate the beautiful person she was. We encourage anyone to bring a memory, picture, something you would like to share. If not, just come and celebrate her! Celebration of Life is on April 19, 2025, location, The Barn At Manzanilla, 6487 State Hwy 17 Alamosa, CO starting at 4:00. To Express condolences, please visit www.mvmortuary.com
