With respect and admiration, we mourn the passing of Cheryl Veronica Montoya, resilient soul who brought joy and laughter to all those around her. Born on June 1, 1971, in Monte Vista, Colorado, Cheryl's magnetic personality and zest for life touched many hearts. She departed from this world on August 5, 2024, in Del Norte, Colorado, surrounded by her loved ones.

Cheryl was a true fighter until the very end, embodying strength and courage in the face of adversity. Her outgoing nature, infectious laughter, and selfless spirit left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was truly a firecracker, illuminating the lives of those around her with her vibrant energy.

One of Cheryl's greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and friends. Whether it was playing bingo, bedazzling crafts, or enjoying music and cooking together, she cherished every moment shared with her loved ones. Cheryl had a unique fondness for clowns that always brought a smile to her face.

Those who went before her are Edward Jimmy Montoya (father), Josie Montoya-Sanchez (paternal grandmother), and Victor "Kiki" Sanchez (uncle). 

Cherishing memories of Cheryl's vibrant spirit are Jenny Montoya (mother), Rebecca Gaitan (daughter), Vanessa Gaitan (daughter), Dominic Gaitan (son), Jezariah Gaitan (son), Eli and Alice Sanchez (maternal grandparents), Valerie and Blair Wyles (sister), Jeremy Montoya (brother), Denise and Chris LeBlanc (sister), Dennis and Stephanie Montoya (brother), Melissa Montoya (sister), along with 5 nephews, 6 nieces, and 2 great-nieces. Additionally, Stanley and Michelle Montoya (uncles) join numerous other extended family members and friends in mourning Cheryl's passing.

As we bid farewell to Cheryl Veronica Montoya, may we remember her as the beacon of light that she was—a source of strength, love, and unwavering positivity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Rest peacefully, dear Cheryl.
