Joe Medina, a beloved rancher, father, and friend, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on August 31, 1931, in Costilla County, Colorado, Joe dedicated his life to the land he adored and the family he cherished.
A proud member of the First Presbyterian Church in Alamosa, Joe was known for his profound love for Jesus and his unwavering faith. He lived his life with a heart full of kindness, teaching those around him the values of hard work, patience, and compassion. Joe's dedication to his family was matched only by his love for animals and the ranching lifestyle. Many fondly remember him riding the range, caring for his livestock, and sharing stories of rodeos he loved, particularly the thrill of roping.
Joe's legacy will live on through his children: his son David Medina and Tim (Yolanda) Medina, who shared a close bond with their father. He was a proud grandfather to David Joe, Tiffany, Tough, and Timber, who each carry a piece of his spirit. He is also survived by his sisters: Jane Williamson, June Sanchez, Anabelle Maes, Darlene Trujillo, and Clorinda Sanchez, who will remember him fondly and carry his memory forward.
Cremation was selected and a family service will be held at a later time.
Joe Medina lived a life full of love, laughter, and hard work. He will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Medina, son, Joe Medina, Jr., granddaughter Gabrielle Medina, his parents, Trinidad and Silviana Medina and his brothers, Tom Medina, George Medina, Jimmy Medina, Frutty Medina.
