Lloyd Eugene Sanchez, beloved brother, retired Air Force veteran, and cherished member of the Monte Vista community, passed away on March 23, 2025. He was born on May 13, 1948, in Alamosa, Colorado, and lived most recently in Monte Vista.

Lloyd proudly served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force, dedicating his life to his country and bringing his skill and passion to his work. He had a remarkable ability to recount stories of his travels and experiences during his service, captivating anyone who was fortunate enough to listen. After his retirement, he continued to share his love for mechanics by working part-time at the Monte Vista Coop, delivering propane and providing small engine repair to his neighbors.

Beyond his love for mechanics, Lloyd was an avid outdoorsman. He found joy in hunting and fishing, often spending weekends in the tranquil beauty of Colorado's wilderness. A true enthusiast, he was also a collector of firearms, and he held strong opinions on many subjects which he shared, sometimes stubbornly, with those around him-such was his passion for life.

Lloyd's heart was deeply rooted in family. He is survived by his loving sisters, Susan Peterson, Helen Lottman, Linda (Bryant) Thomas, Joyce Dance, and Donna Walters, who will forever cherish the moments spent together filled with laughter, shared stories, and the comfort of brotherly love. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Music and friendly competition also filled his life; he enjoyed bluegrass tunes and cheered loudly while watching NASCAR races.

A graveside service will be held to honor Lloyd's life on Friday April 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Homelake Veterans Cemetery, where family and friends will gather to celebrate his legacy. Prior to this, a public gathering will take place at Mountain Valley Mortuary on Thursday April 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing those who loved him to pay their last respects.

As we remember Lloyd Eugene Sanchez, let us take comfort in the memories he left behind-his laughter, his stories, and the love he spread to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents Carlos and Eva Sanchez as well as his sisters, Carla Doggett and Kathy Gylling.
