Mary Gutierrez

Mary Frances Gutierrez, beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on November 17, 1937, in a farmer's home between Sargent and Center, Colorado, Mary was full of life and spirit from an early age. She attended Sargent School and began working at a young age to support her family, showcasing her unwavering work ethic and determination.

 Mary had three children from a previous marriage: Jim Sierra, Jerry Sierra, and a daughter, Debbie Sierra-Garcia, who is now in spirit. In 1975, she married Miguel Angel Gutierrez, with whom she recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and strong family values.

 A vibrant personality, Mary loved nothing more than watching her grandchildren excel in sports, particularly basketball. Her passion for life extended beyond the sidelines; she cherished fishing, camping, and dancing. Known for her stubbornness and hard-working nature, Mary instilled a sense of diligence in her children, teaching them the importance of a strong work ethic. In her spare time, she also enjoyed music and had a fondness for gambling, always seeking out moments of joy and excitement.

 Mary is survived by her devoted spouse, Miguel Gutierrez, sons Jim Sierra and Jerry (Wendy) Sierra, son-in-law Tom Garcia, Jr., her grandchildren; Josh Sierra, Shaun Sierra, Tony Garcia, Desiree Sierra, Pete Garcia, Celeste Lohr, Mario Sierra, Jordan Sierra, and Brianna Bustos as well as twelve great grand children and her loving siblings, Joe Montano, Lucy Archuleta, Judy Staneck, and Esther Casanova, two sister-in-laws, Carmen Montano and Karen Montano. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

 Cremation was selected and a Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday March 1, 2025 at the chapel of Mountain Valley Mortuary. A reception will follow, allowing loved ones to gather and honor Mary’s legacy in the spirit of togetherness she cherished so deeply.

 Mary was preceded in death by: Debbie Garcia, Ernie Montano, John Montano, Pete Montano, Jr., David Montano, Shirley Sierra and her parents Pete and Edubijen Montano.
