He attended Trinidad State Junior College before completing his Radiology degree at Tyler Junior College and then attending Colorado Mesa University where he pursued his Masters Degree. Armed with knowledge and a passion for helping others, Richard dedicated his life to the field of radiology.
Throughout his career, Richard made significant contributions to both San Luis Valley Health and the Rio Grande Hospital. His exceptional expertise earned him the respect of colleagues and patients alike. Richard's compassionate nature and commitment to excellence brought comfort to countless individuals during their most vulnerable moments.
Beyond his professional achievements, Richard was an incredibly talented artist and musician. Painting allowed him to express his creativity with vibrant colors and masterful brushstrokes. Accompanied by the enchanting melodies he skillfully played on the guitar, Richard's music resonated with beauty and emotion.

He is survived by his brother William Blackstone as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and colleagues.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Linda Blackstone as well as his brother Michael Blackstone.
