Wilma Flaspohler

Wilma Jean Flaspohler, beloved wife, mother, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on October 7, 1935, in Vinita, Oklahoma, Wilma's warm spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In 1963, Wilma married the love of her life, John Flaspohler, in Kansas City. Together, they created a loving home in South Fork, Colorado, where Wilma was not only a devoted spouse and caring mother to her three children-Denise, Kevin, and Sharon-but also a passionate advocate for community service. As a member of the Kiwanis in South Fork, Wilma co-founded the South Fork Community Thanksgiving Dinner, a cherished tradition that brought joy and togetherness to many.

Wilma was known for her nurturing spirit and her ability to connect with others. Her mild-mannered nature made her a friend to everyone she met. Family and friends will remember her for her great cooking, love of the outdoors, and fondness for camping and skiing. Though she never converted to Catholicism, Wilma attended church services with John, embodying an openness and respect for community traditions that mirrored her compassionate heart.

Wilma leaves behind her loving husband, John, and her children, Denise, Kevin, and Sharon, grandchildren, Ryan, Jake and Luke, her siblings, Melba Vincent, Pam Ward, Richard Lawson and Jack Lawson along with a legacy of kindness that will endure in the hearts of all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests embracing kindness in her memory, perhaps by volunteering time or resources to community initiatives that held significance for Wilma.

Wilma Jean Flaspohler will be deeply missed, but her love and light will forever remain in the hearts of her family and community.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Pearl Lawson as well as her sister Norma Bark.
